>Background
Jürgen Conings (46) is a trained and decorated sniper and currently a corporal in the Belgian army. He did many foreign missions, and was then transferred to the military police. When he shared SS stuff on facebook he got sued over racism by the army, but the case was dropped. However he got put on a watchlist, was demoted in rank and received a function as shooting instructor. Due to this he had clearance to access the armory at the military base of Leopoldsburg where he was stationed.
>MONDAY
Jürgen's girlfriend found a letter in which he wrote he was going to attack the system and didn't expect to come out alive. He also targetted Belgian defense minister Ludivine Dedonder, and communist virologist Marc van Ranst specifically. Girlfriend gave the letter to police. EARLIER THAT DAY, Jürgen drove to the military base, went to the armory and collected four M72 LAW single-use rocket launchers, a FN P90, a FN Five-seveN, 2000 rounds of ammo, and a bulletproof vest under the disguise of organising a shooting drill. He loaded these in his Audi Q5 and drove off.
>TUESDAY
Police found the car abandoned in Dilserbos (Limburg province) with the rocket launchers inside. It's unclear whether there was a tripwire mechanism aswell. MASSIVE MANHUNT: initially 350 police and 150 military, APCs & helicopters. Virologist Marc van Ranst and his close family placed in a safehouse under police protection.
>WEDNESDAY
Jürgen is believed to be in Hoge Kempen National Park, close to the Dutch and German borders (51 00' N, 5 40' E). The park and the highway going through it are now closed. Park area: 12,000 hectares (46 sq miles) of woodland.
>THURSDAY
Security perimeter extended and the press asked to stay away. Search party increased to over 1000. Dutch/German special forces on standby. Massive search of the Leuvense vaart yielded no results. Local mosques closed.
>FRIDAY
20 sq km searched. Tent found and tested for DNA & prints, wasn't his. Jürgen not located.
